The 11th Kino Datsche takes place August 20–26 in Westbahnhof Leipzig! a week of collaborative filmmaking guided by this year’s motto: Collaboration not Competition – Bildet Banden.

August 20–22 – 1. Session: Music Video Session

We’re experimenting with a new format this year: the Music Video Session! Musicians, bands, and filmmakers come together to develop and shoot music videos within 72 hours. At the opening pitch, you play up to 15 seconds of your song, teams form and you dive straight in. Videos can be up to 7 minutes long.

August 23 – Workshop Day

A day for learning and sharing: we’re inviting two guests for a Script Workshop and an Intimacy Coordination Workshop and anyone who wants to share a skill is warmly welcome to offer their own session.

August 24–26 – 2. Session: Kino Kabaret Session

Open for short films of all genres! Pitch your filmidea, find a team, and shoot a short film in 72 hours from first spark to public screening. Open to everyone, beginners and pros alike. For everyone who loves films and creating things together!

    Which sessions do you want to participate in? (check all that apply)

    Our Kino will last from 20th till the 26th of August. There will be two sessions. The 1st session is Music video session and will last from Thursday till Saturday. Between we have a workshop day on Sunday open for every participant. The 2nd session is from Monday till Wednesday. We recommend that you stay for both sessions, so as to have the most intense film collaborations possible, but you are, of course, free to choose to participate in only one session. The fee for session 1 is 30 €, session 2 will be also 30 €, or 60 € altogether. Included in the fee are breakfast and dinner, a working place, rental equipment, free entry to the screenings, and endless fun.     Between the sessions we will organise short workshops on Sunday, 23st of August. Would you like to offer a workshop? (i.e. Acting, Directing, Editing)

    What Equipment you can bring along?

    Camera, Laptop, Tripod, Sound gear, Car, crazy costumes etc. At a Kinokabaret sharing is caring, so bring all you can carry! Please make sure you have an insurance for your equipment, as we are not responsible for providing compensation, should anything happen to it. Please also note that we rent sound gear, tripods and some lights, but only if you have a third-party-insurance which covers costs, in the event of damage.

    Accommodation

    To make participation easier and more affordable, we are organizing an accommodation exchange for people coming from other cities and countries to Kino Datsche. If you are traveling to Leipzig and are looking for a place to stay, we will do our best to connect you with local participants who can offer a couch or other sleeping space. Still, if you have friends or relatives in Leipzig, we would like to encourage you to seek private accommodation on your own eventually. If you live in Leipzig, we warmly invite you to host another participant <3 It’s great and supports the Kino very much! If you don’t have the room in your place, it’s also helpful if you share it in your circles or let us know about other opportunities :)

    We do the best we can to offer you facilities for film making and creative exchange - in a huge group like this it supports the whole event if everyone feels responsible for each other and the spaces we occupy. Are you willing to help the organization team with small tasks during the Workshop, i.e. cleaning the lab, cleaning the bathroom, preparing breakfast etc.?
